If there is no gravity in space, the bullets have no pull and they have no force to stop it (Unless some object like a whale) , that's why the bullets keep their speed they were fired at.

Let the Whale:
A.) Die from Lack of Oxygen, since any life support in the craft is disabled due to the EMP.
B.) Die from extreme heat or cold, depending on how close/far away from a star the whale is located.
C.) Radiation, since stars give off a lot of this crap we mammals can't survive.
D.) If, say, the whale is part robot, then hey! The EMP killed it!

Bullets have a gravitational effect, but they also have momentum. Velocity is not conserved, and once the bullets lodge in the whale, neither is mass, but momentum is, so you're going to find that the whale and the bullets both move in the same direction, but a lot slower than the bullets.
