Look at that face. LOOK AT IT. Without resorting to any clichéd stereotypes, relying solely on the human interpretation of the facial lines, the trollface subtly yet effectively conveys the point that you've just eaten shit. Mad?

These images, by themselves and with no context other than a knowledge of how people behave, convey nothing. Those upward arrows could be rolling eyes, or eyes tightly-shut against fear, or hell it could be anything because nobody's face ever looks like that. It's perfectly possible to pull a passable trollface, although the original is slightly - slightly - exaggerated for comedic purposes. Know how you make an anime happy face? Hint: Step 1 is 'buy a staple gun'. You'll know what to do from there.

So I'll give my two cents.

Yeah, biases are holding it back.
But yeah, you guys do have a point there; mostly anime expressions need some know-how in order to identify what they really mean. Or some reading between the lines.

Example: I didn't know that the cat expression means interest in *that* kind until I read it somewhere.

So yeah, I second the proposition, if only because it is somewhere between 'plausible' and 'true' in my scale.

Also, prepare to be flamed because trollface is annoying tbh.
It conveys one of the worse kind of human expression and activity.
(Not worst, though, there are a lot of things worse than annoying and trolling.)

If you want scenery porn, that's not necessarily limited to anime. Anime happens to have it, but it isn't an inherent trait.
