Proposition: This House believes that the trollface is a better example of art than 99% of expressions in anime.

I'll lead with a picture.

AlexMdle « 11:32 Tue 26 Jun, 2012 » My argument for "Anime has shitty animation" is always "They have far better illustrations".

(understanding it makes points concerning American cartoons, but the points about anime are valid)

And in conclusion, yet another debate which can be answered by 'it's their style, and who cares'.
(I probably will get flamed for that, so putting on a fireproof suit.)

So I'll give my two cents.

Yeah, biases are holding it back.
But yeah, you guys do have a point there; mostly anime expressions need some know-how in order to identify what they really mean. Or some reading between the lines.

Example: I didn't know that the cat expression means interest in *that* kind until I read it somewhere.

So yeah, I second the proposition, if only because it is somewhere between 'plausible' and 'true' in my scale.

Also, prepare to be flamed because trollface is annoying tbh.
It conveys one of the worse kind of human expression and activity.
(Not worst, though, there are a lot of things worse than annoying and trolling.)
Flandre Scarlet wrote:Your argument is invalid because every fanart of Rumia ever has the best expression ever. In fact, any Touhou expression is the best, simply because Touhou is an amazing [strike]anime.[/strike] game that became so popular, fan stuff went critical mass.
Fixed, Flan. TouhouNotAnime, and you'll be torched the minute you say that Touhou is anything but a videogame series in any Touhou forum.

If you want scenery porn, that's not necessarily limited to anime. Anime happens to have it, but it isn't an inherent trait.
