Looking around, you note that pirate airship is still around, looks like it did collided with clouds too, but only with minor damage.
You also note that there's really long way down, if you ever fall, since you can't see the bottom.

The 'something' is apparently a red birdman in mercenary clothes.
He's wielding a pretty good claymore, with some sort of switch mechanism added into it's hilt.

The lichen still notices the pirate ship.
Focus on dodging the fire, and try not to fall, if fell, stick a spike and get back up, while waiting for thorns to regenerate.
