Not all scoring purposes are good
And scoring in a shmup should be balanced, not just 'throw everything in'
The reason why i am still posting is because people tend to dislike scoring mechanics that postpones boss death/pattern change for too long, at least from what i know, correct me if i am wrong (It often referred as 'milking')

Milking is only annoying when youre watching a lets play.
Example. 80% of Rusted Dragon is a huge milking process.

I'd like to point out that Scoring is not always relevant to gameplay.
